Focusing on Teaching Entrepreneurship

Following the subject of this event, a Round Table under the theme “Teaching Entrepreneurship at Schools” took place in the morning of April 17th. The event gathered a set of national and international individuals with experience in the field, and aimed to absorb methodologies and good practices for the implementation of entrepreneurship training and awareness initiatives in the curricular programmes of the region’s schools.

The examples of Valnalon Educa, with large years of experience in the field in Spain and Project ENE – Empreender na Escola, promoted by BIC Algarve Huelva, already integrated in the curricular program in several schools of Algarve and Alentejo were presented. Rui Oliveira, from the Direcção Regional de Educação do Centro, confirmed the pertinence of this initiative and the determination of DREC in collaborating with OPEN and other institutions of the Region for the implementation of Entrepreneurship training projects in the curricular programs, since the first years of primary education

Workshop: "Young Entrepreneurship – Ideas in Motion”

The afternoon this day was dedicated to the young people. The goal of this workshop was to enlighten to entrepreneurship and intended to show that the entrepreneurial spirit can also be educated and stimulated from an early stage.

 

With practical activities, capable of inducing both creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit on the young students from several Secondary and Professional Schools of the Region, these activities were dynamised by José Manuel Péricles, from the Valnalon Educa Project, whose methodology is being applied in 11 countries and already enthuse thousands of young people, and the team of Think Industry Project.

 

The challenge given was to develop, working in teams, a business idea with market potential. The ideas presented showed the creative capacity of the young attendants and the activity constituted a great moment of fun for everyone, culminating with the awards and gifts ceremony.

Young Entrepreneur Fair


The week ended with the “Young Entrepreneur Day”, in which students from several schools of the region had the opportunity of putting into practice their entrepreneurial capacity, in a fair that took place at the Praça Rodrigues Lobo in Leiria. This fair was led by the Prof. Chris Curtis and had the support of Leiria Town Hall and IPJ.
